VALE OF YORK WORKING RETRIEVER CLUB (KC 2263)
NOVICE GUNDOG WORKING TEST inc WALKED UP FOR A/V RETRIEVER
SUNDAY, 23 JUNE 2024 AT WESTFIELD FARM, FIMBER
By kind permission of Mr Andrew Baxter
Summer arrived just in time on the Yorkshire Wolds today for our Novice Gundog Working Test at Westfield Farm, Fimber by the very kind permission of Andrew Baxter.
Our Judges for the day were Godfrey Lowe, Andy Curtis, Lucie Lowe and Daniel Marx. Four static tests in various parts of the dale giving varied and challenging retrieves were the order of the day.
After all competitors had completed the statics, the judges took all dogs and handlers successful in the four tests into a walked up, giving each dog and handler another two retrieves consisting of a mark in front and then a blind behind.
Once the walk up was completed, the judges invited all competitors unsuccessful in the cut to join them in some walked-up training– this went down really well. Special thanks to the judges for this kind offer.
Huge congratulations to all in the awards. Our winner also got to take home a very smart bottle of Farthing,s Vineyard Sparkling Pinot Noir generously presented by Andrew Baxter along with a month’s subscription to GundogTV:
The result were as follows:
1st Kentwone Thyme Night handled by Caroline Wainwright
2nd Tarnedge Run a Mile handled by Jane Burniston
3rd Claruno Rhodes of Quillismere handled by Jess Burrows
4th Snowdell Silas handled by Serena Richardson
COM Maryridge Millie handled by David Lloyd

Massive thanks to our Judges – Godfrey, Andy, Lucie and Daniel – you were awesome – and so kind to give your time so freely.
To Tracey Dodds, Simon Pilling, Jason Barnes, Liz Robinson, Andy Thwaites and Mollie Lord for placing and throwing dummies – I just cannot thank you enough – I know we say it every time, but it really can’t go ahead without you. Also, must mention Sheila Tait and Claire Carvis for their fab support in helping ensure all ran smoothly.
Thanks to our sponsors – Skinners Pet Foods and GundogTV.
Finally, on a personal note I do hope that all who attended today enjoyed themselves – the Vale of York are so lucky to have such lovely ground at our disposal and as ever a lovely atmosphere prevailed.
We look forward to seeing you at our next test to be held at Manor Farm, Kelk, Driffield on Sunday, 14 July 2024.
