VALE OF YORK WORKING RETRIEVER CLUB (KC 2263)

Fimber Open Walked Up Cold Game Test A/V Retriever

held on Saturday, 11 June 2022

at Westfield Farm, Burdale Lane, Fimber

By kind permission of Mr Andrew Baxter

A lovely sunny day welcomed us to Westfield Farm, Fimber on Saturday, 25 June where the Vale of York Working Retriever Club hosted their Open Walked Up Cold Game Test.

Judges for the day were Steve Cullis, Paula Cullis, Stephanie Smith and Brian Dodsworth. Following a brief drive round the dale so the judges could familiarise themselves with the area in question the day began.

A very strong field of 30 dogs and handlers were put through their paces by the judges who started by giving all entered a couple of good, marked retrieves. The following retrieves were then mixed up so nothing could be anticipated by anyone entered.

Those in the gallery, throwers, game carriers and, of course, the Judges witnessed some cracking retrieves throughout the whole day. The day ended very positively with the following dogs and handlers in the awards.

Very well done to all:

1st: Cardueae Yealands handled by Rebecca Thistle

2nd: Salesmasky Ebor of Brackenfarg handled by Margaret Pearce

3rd: Claybrow Tranquil Lass handled by Arthur Talfair

4th: Tarnedge Scout handled by Roger Kilty

COM: Cuckavalda Black Bean handled by Sandra Ellis

COM: Tattney Arizona handled by Paul Hasney. (correction)

COM: Dallagill Larksong handled by Jane Duffy

Our great appreciation and considerable thanks go to Andrew Baxter for allowing us the use of his magnificent ground. Thank you.

Thank you to the judges – Steve, Paula, Stephanie and Brian – for giving your Saturday to the Club and judging so effectively.

Thanks also to our generous sponsors for the day - Skinners Pet Foods Ltd and Cawood Training Ground.

Of course, none of this could go ahead without the help and support received from all those who help - game throwers, game carriers, club members and competitors. Teresa and I are always so very appreciative for any help offered – Saturday was a long day, but an enjoyable one.

We look forward to – hopefully – seeing you all at our next event to be held at Manor Farm, Kelk on Saturday, 25 June 2022 for our Novice and Open Working Gundog Test. Entries close Thursday, 16 June.
